I was born in Northampton in 1956, I grew up in Oxfordshire, got expelled from school at the age of 16, worked as a shoemaker until 1980 when I stumbled on stage.
I started working in television around 1986, started working on Red Dwarf in 1989 and I haven't looked back much.
