FAQ's

Numerous people have suggested I do this. So I will try, and I suppose it will grow in time.

MFAQ  (most frequently asked question)

Is there going to be more Red Dwarf?

The answer is yes. UKTV (aka Dave) has commissioned 6 new episodes we recorded over 2011-12. It will be broadcast on Dave in September 2012

Will Red Dwarf be recorded in front of an audience?

Yes, and all the tickets have been allocated

Will there be any more Scrapheap?

I get asked this a lot. I presented Scrapheap Challenge for 10 years, a total of more than 150 episodes. In 2006 I decided I didn’t want to do any more after the 2007 season. This was, looking back, quite a wise decision on my part (for once) as by 2008 Channel 4, who broadcast the series, had suffered the initial onslaught of the ‘global financial crisis.’   Their revenue from advertising dropped by 40% in a matter of months, 100’s of layoffs, all very grim.

RDF made one more super low budget series in 2008 which featured the wonderful Dick Strawbridge trying to keep the scrap ship afloat. They only made one series with Dick, and since then, if you’ve seen Scrapheap, and clearly a lot of people still do, they are repeats.

Can I see the Dave Carpools online?

Yes you can. I will be uploading full length versions of all the new Carpools we shot for Dave through 2011. They will be available on all the normal outlets I have used so far. If you go to www.llewtube.com then all the links to the feeds are on there.

Are you married?

I get a couple of these questions a week and I’m deeply flattered… or maybe I shouldn’t be. Maybe it means, ‘what kind of nut case would marry an old dork like you?’

Anyway, I am married to Judy Pascoe, and yes she did play Camille in Red Dwarf, and no we didn’t meet then and yes she was in a circus company (Circus Oz) when I met her and her website is here.  www.judypascoe.com

Does getting asked constantly the same question over and over again drive you nuts?

Oh here's another question for your FAQ.

Are you going to be joining the cast of fifth gear full time?

December 9, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterGlenn

Why doesn't your wife's website mention you anywhere?

You may have noticed on Twitter that one of my followers is keen for us to meet up over breakfast to talk.... Just to let you know, I'm not a stalker!!!!

The reason behind this 'have breakfast frenzy of posts" is my response to a question she tweeted: Name 7 people that you would like to have breakfast with over 7 days (dead or alive).

You were one of my 7 (Along with Henry Rollins, Chris Barrie, My Dad, Ray Mears, Norman Dewis, Leonardo Da Vinci). All people who are either in engineering or telling it like it is.

Sure it would be a privilege to meet up and chew engineering fat over cars, energy etc, but it's not my lifelong ambition (sorry - ha ha!!!)

Anyway - just thought I'd clear that up.... and as this is an FAQ... who would you choose?

Who's the author of the Carpool title music?
The reason I ask is that it is being used slightly speedud up in a Finnish furniture TV ad by Isku (www.isku.fi)..
I think the ad is by Ilme agency (www.ilme.fi).

Hello Robert,
Have you or do you plan to do talks in different countries? (Cough) maybe Ireland? (cough)

Hello,

I have seen the Red Dwarf show many years ago on PBS channel in US of A. I remember a white guy with an H on his face, a Black guy, a guy with a square face and a Cat/Man. Which one were you?

Hello Robert

I hold you personally responsible for me being the proud owner of a 2011 Nissan Leaf. Done 28k miles. Love my Leaf, it’s just electric.
I am now rooting for a Tesco Supercharger Network (got the idea from Tesla) as they have over 400 stores with 24 hour opening hours. That is to provide rapid charging. This I believe will make my Leaf socially acceptable.
The leaftalk community to which I am a keen supporter have given this a tepid response and my naïve attempt to get Tesco’s CEO Phillip Clarke onboard has as yet come to nothing. But it is early days.
Does this idea interest you or do you think I am barking?

Dear Robert,

Having tried your agent, to no reply - I am really keen to get you involved in a launch of my new project, that, having read your book 'News from Gardenia', I think will resonate - in terms of how we get to your 'the transport just works' future. As well as open source code we are also planning to put all 'User Experience Design' etc into the Creative Commons.

Really hope you get this message, and find it of interest.

I'm writing in regards to the recent Fully Charged episode on Electric Cars are Dirty. Why when somebody says this are they not told about how much coal burning electricity it takes to refine one gallon of gasoline? Not to mention then desiel fuel required to transport it? ICE vehicles use more electricity than my Chevy Volt.

I have a couple of questions that you might actually be interested in concerning electricity usage in electric cars charging v. petrol cars electrical usage to get that gallon of petrol to your tank.

Would you have an email address I can send them to?
